Clean Kitchen

Even before a person learns to cook, cleaning and hygiene is what a person must know foremost to do in the kitchen. I think most of us know that the kitchen sink harbors the most number of germs than any other place in every household. Sanitizing every area, every gadget and every appliance in your kitchen is the best method to ward off these germs. Lemon, Vinegar and Baking soda are my favorites in cleaning the green way. I personally am trying to minimize the use of store bought disinfectants and switch to greener ways to clean, at least in the kitchen.

These are some tips I thought might be helpful.
  • Start with lemon, vinegar/baking soda for any cleaning purpose and then switch to disinfectants if they are tough stains/greases.
  • Use tissues to clean or replace cloth rags weekly.
  • Clean & disinfect refrigerator periodically at least weekly.
  • Clean & disinfect microwave periodically at least weekly.
  • Clean & Organize your pantry periodically.
  • Expose your cutting board to sunlight to keep them dry. You could even rub a lemon over it.
  • Microwave your dish sponge for 2 minutes to sanitize.
  •  Rub a lemon on counter top to remove stains or bring back the neutral smell of your kitchen.
  •  A bowl of Lemon juice/vinegar for 2 minutes in the microwave helps keep the microwave clean and fresh smelling.
  •  Even your trash bag can smell good if you put some lemon wedges in them.
